Breast Cancer Now creates a tactical ad for the World Cup final plus...5 more creative campaigns that use a birdseye perspective.
A snapshot look at a trending campaign with a curated pick of past campaigns that use a similar creative approach in some way.
UK charity Breast Cancer Now, took to the field with a great reactive print campaign to tie in with the interest in the Women’s World Cup final between Spain and England. The striking tactical ad, created by creative agency BMB, featured the centre spot on a football pitch, seen directly from above, with the supporting copy: “If everyone regularly checks for a change in the colour, texture or feel of their breasts, and gets to know their normal, we could help beat breast cancer too.”
The image itself is immediately recognisable as the centre circle on a football pitch but if you look a bit closer you notice the discolouration and distortion at the bottom left side - a perfect media metaphor for several of the key symptoms to look out for when checking your breasts.
Here are five more creative campaigns that smartly leveraged a birdseye view including one from Gymbox that also came out recently.
Aerial Classes | Gymbox | 2023
Turn the rooftops of London buses into a media metaphor to advertise aerial classes, a fast-growing fitness trend in the UK. (Note these were photoshopped ads from stock photography but that takes nothing away from the cheeky sense of fun).
The Plastic Letter | Corona | Wieden + Kennedy | 2022
Turn reclaimed ocean rubbish on a polluted beach in Mexico into a visible SOS letter to the world about plastic pollution.
Stop Traffik | Street Grace | Porter Novelli | 2018
Turn the volume of child sex trafficking into a media metaphor using the rooftops of school buses to show the horrific numbers involved.
The Undersea Billboard | Nivea | FCB | 2015
Create a billboard underwater from natural materials to promote the need to wear suncream, especially while snorkeling!
Not A Bug Splat! | Reprieve | Impact BBDO | 2014
Challenge drone strikers directly to reveal the human cost of drone strikes in Pakistan with a giant image of one of the child victims for them to see.
